Amy Carlin

Hi,

I'm Amy Carlin, English, Psychology, Child Development, and Creative Writing teacher at Sunset High School.

I grew up in San Diego; after graduating high school, I headed to UCSB to earn my Bachelors Degree in English with a minor in Economics. I returned to San Diego to get my teaching credential and Masters at Cal State San Marcos, and later my doctorate in Educational Leadership from UCI/UCLA. My first teaching job was at Oak Crest Middle School, followed by San Dieguito Acadmy, Diegueno Middle School, Torrey Pines High School, La Costa Canyon High School and now, having taught for over 20 years in the San Dieguito District, I have found a happy home at Sunset. My time outside of school is spent raising my four children. We enjoy soccer, volleyball, swimming, the beach, movies, food, and our friends and family. Life is good!

Carol Eliel

I have been teaching in the San Dieguito School District since 1991 and at Sunset since 1996. I have an MA from Point Loma University and a BA from UCSD.

What I love about teaching (and about life) is that no two days are the same. It's energizing and interesting to see what's in store at Sunset each day. The moment you step onto Sunset's campus you're welcomed to an atmosphere where people genuinely care and invest in one another. It is an honor to be part of the Sunset team working alongside our students as they reach beyond what's comfortable to take hold of what's possible. I am consistently impressed by the resilient spirits, bright minds and courageous hearts of our students.

Whether at school or at home, I enjoy setting new goals for myself. I enjoy hiking, cooking, writing, entertaining and travel -- especially when I can share those activities with my favorite people - my family.

I've been teaching since 1990 in the San Dieguito Union School District. I've taught all levels of mathematics from basic math through AP Calculus and AP Statistics. Sunset High School has been my home since 2012, and I couldn't be happier. I currently teach Business Math, Algebra 1, Integrated Math 1, Algebra 2, Integrated Math 3, Statistics, and Math Analysis.

Joe Olesky

Joseph R. Olesky, MS…… better known by his students and staff as Mr. O, is a Credentialed Educational Psychologist currently in the position of Student Support Specialist (SSS). Joe has been in the District for 16 years, and has been specializing in the areas of Drug and Alcohol counseling (past READI Program), Family Counseling, and Social Emotional Counseling. Joe’s passion in his current position is to assist students with their areas of difficulty, and find the inner strength to overcome limitations that effect their school performance, and gain a better sense of self to handle future endeavors.
